That’s my dad

BY SHIBU VADAKETH

My dad

Born in 1934, the year of the dog
Was a chubby little kid I’m told
Round as ball and cute as a button
6th kid of 7 and spoilt rotten
That’s my dad

The zodiac says sincere, faithful, amiable, kind
He is Cheerful, helpful, always smiling
And never Jealous of what others have or wanting,
Loves life, his late wife, kids, Sister inlaw, grandkids, family and friends
That’s my dad

Childhood was good, a happy kid
Am told he loved to eat and haqd an appetite
Grew up with siblings, cousins, family and friends
His home was the home away from home for others
Thats my dad

Esau, Thomas, Jacob The 3 musketeers or 3 stooges
Were cousins and pals his closest friends of 6
The 6 were always up to mischief and loved food and a stengah
Now only Sunny remains
That’s my dad

Irony, he married Smol a beautiful teetotaler from Kottayam
They had their differences to say the least and argued a lot
When she passed away in 1994, asked if he will remarry
He shrugged n said why? I have met the love of my life
That’s my dad

They had 3 kids and lived most of their life in Klang
They gave their all for us, so we could have a better life
Taught us to love others, always lend a hand and put Christ 1st
A doting grandfather, the Apple of his eye his grandkids, and not the four legged kind
That’s my dad

He loved to have fun, active and loved food and a drink or two
He was always there to help anyone in need
He opened his house to all, day or night
He is the uncle, cousins reached out too in times of trouble
That’s my dad

But the later years in his life there were complications
A failed knee surgery and other ailments, in and out of hospital
Saddened, he felt that he was a burden to those around him,
Thank you for being there for us, we are doing what you taught us
That’s my dad

To sum up my dad,
a lesson we can learn, loved by all who knew him,
God fearing, never held a grudge, content with what God had given him
Always there to lend a helping hand no matter to whom
Loved his family and friends and was ever ready to be there for us
That’s my dad
